On 16th February 2022 at approximately 9am members of RC Seguku with support and guidance of USAID Project Manager Rtn Henry Kakooza conducted a WASH re-assessment at Seguku Nursery & Primary School & Seguku Health Centre Ⅱ found in Wakiso district, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality where we intend to do a project with acquisition of a global grant. This was a process that was initiated pre-COVID -19 but halted due to the global pandemic.
Seguku Nursery & Primary School
The school has 787 students 457 Girls & 330 Boys currently though we noticed that with the space and resources it has the capacity of at least 1000 students.13 staff members also reside within the school with a couple of boarding students
We also noticed that the school has 1 toilet block for girls with 4 stances and 2 toilet blocks for boys with 8 stances though one of the toilets is non-functional.
The school is currently using tap water which is very costly given the number of students, we also noticed a non-functional borehole which is almost 20years old from the report given by the school head teacher. From all our evaluations we came up with the need to do the following
1- Establish & train a Water Committee.
2- Rehabilitate the dilapidated borehole
3- Construct a sanitation facility for girls with a similar design as USHA’s and provide provisions for the disabled.
4-Installation of two Rainwater tanks each 10,000 ltr
5- Avail waste bins
6- Fence the school.

Similar to the school the health center is using tap and am glad to say water is available at all water points eg laboratory, labor suit, and consultation rooms though this attracts accost that accumulates a monthly bill of 300,000 per month. We were informed by Midwife Sarah that they lack an incinerator which is very crucial given that they conduct deliveries & are strained with the cost of having aboda boda man take these wastes’ to Ndejje.
With this assessment, we realized the need for the following
1- Installation of two Rainwater tanks each 10,000 ltr
2- Install an incinerator
3- Install a solar system
4- Construct shelter / waiting areas for the patients
